Memory Lane Board Game

Memory lane producing a new magnetism between people at the "Name It" exhibition.

Memory lane is a board game loosely related to Monopoly as it was a huge part of my childhood.

About every three years of my life monopoly became a reality.

I have moved over 15 times in 22 years.

Each Property or Mode of Transport is represented by a symbol sandblasted onto a metal plate.

The sandblasted symbol is the most prominent object of that house in my memory, or the logo of that particular mode of transport.

Each figurine all belongs to the correlating house or transport square.

The figurines are divided equally amongst players.

The aim of the game is to get the figurines you have chosen back to their original homes before the other players get theirs home.

Your journey is both hindered and helped by the Mishaps and Fortunes cards.

The Mishaps and Fortunes cards feature real events in my life.

I wanted to put as much value on the modes of transport as the houses as I actually feel more at home in moving vehicles than i do in a house.

When you are moving you have a purpose, a direction.

When you move house and you know you will move again soon, there is only temporary purpose, temporary direction.

I laser cut the title by hand into a steel plate.

I hand cut each metal square using a piercing saw.

I fixed the steel base and brass, copper, gilding metal and tin squares to the oak frame using pop rivets.

I hand made each figurine using all sorts of techniques, such as spot welding, soldering and piercing.

Memory Lane has exhibited both at "Name It" 2006 and "Home" 2005.
