My work on the 3d design, materials and critical practice course has lead me to work with a wide range of materials.Metal, clay,Thermoplastic,Paper and Textiles.Through experemintation with materials I have found that my strong interests lie in textiles and traditional craft techniques such as embroidery and knitting.I am currently very interested in these tradtional techniques as I feel that in this fast, mass producing, materialistic society that we live in these techniques have been somewhat lost. This inspires me to try and bring them back in the form of contemporary design and question the boundaries of these supposed old fashioned, domestic traditions. My most recent project explores the idea of bringing the domestic out into the exterior-into the harsh, urban enviornments that surround us,in bringing comfort into this city enviornment and trying to find its inner beauty.
