Georgette Mccarthy
Personal Profile* My designs are often raw and emotive and driven by my own human experience and what is happening in Society today My intentions as a designer are to address social concerns.
*I live in London and I am currently studying BA (Hons)Three Dimensional Design at University of Arts London. I am passionate about all art however, I feel particularly taken with 3Dimensional Design. The course is both exciting and challenging and has helped me developed my own individual language as an artist.
My other Interests are keeping fit, reading about all cultures, and observing human behaviour. *

- This model is an environment where women can receive health checks. Constructed from Mod Roc, and foam board this environment has 2 levels. Ground level has a Main Reception Desk, along with stairs and lifts to the next level. Level 2 has another smaller and more intimate Reception Desk, 2 Waiting Areas, toilets, Coffee and Snack Bars and Consulting Rooms. If this model was to become realised, the roof would have solar panels and all the materials used in the build would be Environmentally friendly

- This Torso has been Cast in Resin and wrapped in Barbed Wire. This work is a metaphor for Safety of the Spiritual Self.
- Diary is just that, a three dimensional drawing of the artists and lecturers I met in 2005. Each individual was asked to make their individual mark on paper, each signature was made into a tag and hand sewn onto the coat .

3 Wise Women are sayings my dear mother would say to me when I was young.
1 The grass always looks greener on the other side.
2 You can have all the money in the world, but when the water runs all what will you drink money?
3.Corporation Pop. Whenever I would ask why didn't she buy pop she would say "there's Corporation pop in the tap".The colour of the drawing pins remind me of the bubbles of colour in a glass of pop, the sharpness of the pins serves as denial of enjoyment because it hurts when you hold the glass. One of my first jobs was to get a job in a Pop Factory
* Suitcase > To view image of Scroll down to Show Attatchments.
Suitcase is a social sculpture which invites the viewer to reflect on their own personal journey, while contemplating for a moment the journey of others, In doing so realise a commonality shared by all who come to live in London. The use of concrete serves as a metaphor for " Urban Life" while creating a strong physical statement about the social importance the "movement of people " has played in man's progress. From the first epic journey by man out of Africa to the one's modern man continues to make today.
Suitcase is a symbol of this Human Spirit.
