_ In this project I looked at darning as a technique used for centuries to repair holes in clothes and other textiles. I was interested in the process of constructing a new material to fill the hole.
I looked at the Mend and Make Do campaigns of wartime Britain that encouraged people to repair worn clothing instead of throwing it away. Today very few things are repaired in the disposable culture that we live in: everything is replaces, which has a disastrous effect on the environment._
