This course places the ‘designer-maker’ firmly at the centre of design production, combining a critical investigative approach with the physical practice of making. The focus is on ‘small batch’ production and the ‘one-off’ within design. Students are encouraged to challenge norms and question conventions as a designer-maker through developing a personal approach to researching, experimenting, designing and making in the context of an increasingly complex commodity culture.
